2024 is the 30th anniversary of the founding of Williams Refrigeration Scotland, which is based in Edinburgh. This is one of four regional contracting units that deliver an expert regional contracting solution including site surveys, project management and the installation of coldrooms for foodservice and specialist applications (such as medical, pharmaceutical and scientific research). Williams Scotland also provide food retail display equipment, remote refrigeration and air conditioning systems, together with local service and maintenance.
The company also provides specialist support to keep coldrooms working at peak efficiency, reaching the high standards that have made Williams Refrigeration one of the leading names in the refrigeration industry for nearly 45 years.
Since 1994 the Williams Scotland team has worked on projects at a range of prestigious and important locations across Scotland and Ireland. These include the Balmoral Estate, Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament and BBC Scotland’s Glasgow headquarters, universities in Edinburgh including St Andrews, sports stadiums like Murrayfield, Windsor Park in Belfast, The Curragh racecourse, Eileen Donnan Castle and Glen Turret, the oldest whiskey distillery in Scotland, to name but a few.

Steve Leslie is the current managing director of the Scottish team. He joined the company in 2004 as contracts manager and became MD in 2016. He leads a team with decades of experience between them, including the current contracts manager Adam Tassell, who started as an apprentice at Williams 17 years ago. Engineering manager Steve Garven has been with the company for 14 years, while service co-ordinator Claire Styles and sales co-ordinator Janice Dennington both have ten years’ experience. The team of engineers include many people who have been with the company for over a decade, including Gordon McCulloch, Ralph Holmes, Michael Fullerton and Mark Kirk.
This experience gives the team an unparalleled depth of knowledge, allowing them to rise to any challenge and meet the expectations of quality that customers have come to expect from Williams Refrigeration.
“Working with Williams for the past 20 years has been a privilege,” says Steve. “You never quite know where the next job will take us, which keeps it interesting. We’ve installed a lot of coldrooms serving kitchens, along with those for laboratories, pharmacies and mortuaries. We offer a 24/7 service, with callout if required, as well as maintenance visits to keep the equipment in the best possible shape,” he says. “Williams makes fantastic products and are a world-renowned brand, and that reputation makes our work much easier!”
“We are delighted to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Williams Refrigeration Scotland,” says Tim Smith, Managing Director of Williams. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues both past and present for their outstanding commitment and dedication, and equally to recognise the loyal support of our customers over these past three decades.”
